Domesticated Draco Stryx are not born knowing how to fly and hunt, so it is up to their riders and other Stryx to teach them how to survive. Not only this, but all dragons rely on this early training so that they can bond with their riders or other Stryx in a series of feats called Tributes. It is through these Tributes that a Stryx and rider learn how to connect and communicate with each other, and as a result learn many things about themselves along the way.

General Rules

You may train a maximum of up to 3 Stryx in Training images.
Additional stryxes past 3 may be included, but they will not receive training and should be marked in the work's description and not receiving training.

Basic, Blindness, and Arena training still receive +2 AP per entry.

If a rider or companion stryx is required in the prompt, you must either have one rider per participating stryx, or (if completing the prompts for wild stryxes) one non-participating companion stryx for up to two other stryxes being trained.

You can not re-use or recolor these images! All Training entries must be original.

Inbred Stryx who suffer from Crippled Wings or Brittle Bone Syndrome can not complete Training!
If your Stryx is Blind it must complete Blindness Training BEFORE it can be Basic Trained or participate in Tributes!

Basic Training

Basic Training Trophy by AlphaStryx
All training (including Blindness training if your stryx is blind) must be completed before you can compete in the Arena!
It will also provide a bonus to your Stryx's success rates when Hunting and Fishing!

Art Requirements
Stryx must be depicted at fullbody, and must be at least either flat-colored or grayscale shaded. Backgrounds are optional. Sketchy lines are okay, you're not expected to put as much effort into these images as you are for Tribute entries.

Literature Requirements
Training entries must be at least 600 words in length if being written, and you must take care to follow all the same details and requirements of art entries when it comes to Stryx and/or riders involved in each entry. Do some character building! Make it an interesting read!

The 5 Tiers of Basic Training

Dusk: Training Tier 1 by aignavus
Flipped Feather Tier 1 - Trust  Feather
This is the beginner's stage of training, and one of the most important. Draw your hatchling or adolescent Stryx interacting with his/her rider or another Stryx, learning basic movements, or how your rider/Stryx guide otherwise gains your dragon's trust. (Drawing you rrider/companion stryx is REQUIRED. Riders one per stryx with three stryx max, companion stryx counts for up to two stryxes being trained.)

Flipped Feather Tier 2 - Confidence  Feather
You must learn to walk before you can run, and a Stryx must learn how to run before they can fly. Young dragons are often rather clumsy, and must learn how to center themselves. As well, learning to walk and run steadily will prepare them for hunting on land, and chasing down prey. Draw your Stryx jogging or running, following after its rider or another Stryx. (Drawing your rider/extra Stryx is optional.)

Flipped Feather Tier 3 - Control  Feather
Congratulations! You've reached the middle tier, and your Draco Stryx has become highly coordinated on its feet. Now it's time to stretch out those wings and strengthen those legs! Gliding and jumping are an important skill when your Stryx is learning how to use updrafts and air currents to lift its body into the sky, or how to make swift turns and powerful leaps during a fight or hunt, and gently builds toward the strength a Stryx will need to become a competent flyer, hunter, and fighter. Draw your dragon gliding down from a hill, or rocky outcropping, toward its rider or another Stryx waiting and coaxing it from below, or leaping into the air/jumping across a stream, or over some form of obstacle. (Drawing your rider/extra Stryx is optional.)

Flipped Feather Tier 4 - Strength  Feather
It takes strong muscles and a sturdy heart to be able to fly and/or carry a rider. By now, your Stryx is finally old enough and large enough to take on this task. Draw your Stryx learning to fly alongside someone else's Stryx, or being ridden. For Runner types, you may draw them pulling something heavy across the ground with their jaws, or hitched up with a harness, pulling a rider, sled, or other heavy weight. (Drawing your rider/companion stryx is REQUIRED. Riders one per stryx with three stryx max, companion stryx counts for up to two stryxes being trained.)

Flipped Feather Tier 5 - Bravery  Feather
Your Stryx is now ready to take on the complicated and exhilarating task of hunting down large prey! Draw your Stryx running after land prey, swooping down to catch something in the water or on land, or eating a successful kill. (Drawing your rider or extra Stryx is optional.)

Blindness Training

Blindness Training Trophy by AlphaStryx

1. Your Stryx learning to follow voice and touch-centric commands, with another Stryx or rider.
2. Your Stryx on foot, navigating a flat obstacle course (design of the course is up to you).
3. Your Stryx in flight (for flighted stryxes) or (for runners) jumping and navigating obstacles such as trees, mountains, or a course.

Art should be fullbody and flat-colored or greyscale-shaded (background optional)
Literature should be 600 words.

Hello I'm starting on the training soon but I don't think any of my drawings can fit within paperdemon's submit art work 4MB- 9MB, what should I do to submit the art and future art work?
